Learn the traditional martial art of tae kwon-do with the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain, Europe’s largest single martial arts organisation.
Established in 2018, we are a small, friendly and inclusive tae kwon-do club serving the Mutley, Lipson, Laira, St Judes, Cattedown and Prince Rock areas of Plymouth. Whether you are aiming to get fit, improve your flexibility, make new friends, gain self-defence skills or improve your confidence, we will help you achieve your goals. In addition to our classes, there are also numerous opportunities to attend workshops, local and national competitions, and social events throughout the year.
We understand that everyone learns new things differently and that in particular, learning theory and Korean words can be daunting. We pride ourselves on our unique approach to teaching, and our weird and wonderful memory tips and tricks have helped many of our students obtain above-average passes at their gradings.
Our club is part of the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB), which was set up in 1983 and is now Europe’s largest single martial arts association, with over 20,000 members training in over 600 clubs throughout the UK. The TAGB guarantees certified, experienced instructors who have undertaken specialist courses, are DBS checked and first aid trained and have professional indemnity insurance.
In 1988, the TAGB was the founding member of the British Tae Kwon-Do Council (BTC), the only governing body of tae kwon-do to be recognised by the United Kingdom Sports Council. In 1993, the TAGB also helped to found Tae Kwon-Do International, which is a non-political organisation aiming to bring together tae kwon-do practitioners from all around the world.
If you are thinking of joining us, please feel free to come along and watch one of our classes and have a chat with our instructor. If you then decide to give it a go, we offer a free one month trial before you commence your monthly membership payable by standing order.
Unlike most gym memberships, you are not tied in to a contract and are free to leave at any time should you wish to do so (although we’re sure you won’t want to!). Your monthly membership enables you to train at any TAGB club, so you can hop in the car and train locally up to six days per week.
We do not offer courses where you pay upfront to receive a black belt within a relatively short time period, nor do we dedicate our time to anything other than traditional tae kwon-do. You can be sure that once you attain black belt status with us, you have truly earned it.
Plymouth East T.A.G.B Tae Kwon-Do is a member of the British Taekwondo Council, the National Governing Body for Taekwondo. The BTC has achieved NSPCC Advanced Standards in Safeguarding.
